Digest of "Dimmable LED Drivers Operating in Discontinuous Conduction Mode"
Abstract
This paper presents comparative investigation of the operation of buck LED drivers both in CCM and DCM. The first section of paper briefly describes the controllability parameters of the converter in DCM and their comparison with the converters in CCM. The impact of DCM on the losses based on experiments is presented next. Weight and size of the LED drivers operated in DCM is also briefly estimated. Finally, conclusions about using DCM for LED lamps are drawn.
